He and his wife, Juliet, fell in love with Florida on a vacation to Fort Myers in 1911 and Collier started focusing his renowned energy on developing golf and sporting clubs in the state, one of which was Grey Oaks.

The names of Collier County and Barron Collier High School are tributes to this man's impressive legacy. His family continues his legacy at Grey Oaks.
