Unexpected Rebound in Housing Starts for July

08/17/16

Activity increased across the board with new starts after a second-quarter housing slump. The positive data surprised Wall Street as other indicators have pointed toward a further slowdown. A survey of homebuilders published on Monday showed confidence rising in August, with builders optimistic about sales now and over the next six months. However, their views about prospective buyer traffic softened a bit. In Naples, we are seeing continued demand on lots and no noticeable slowdown on new homes across all price ranges.

August in Southwest Florida is traditionally quiet but this summer has been a steady stream of sales and inventory has been kept low showing a healthy balance in supply. Sales have been steady in some of the larger developments such as Talis Park where builders are able to showcase the newest styles and "extras" including new amenities.

There are still prime lots available in the downtown Naples neighborhoods. If you have interest in hearing more about the Naples real estate market please contact Adam Carriero at 239-641-3876 or [email protected]
