The Florida Gulf Coast University basketball team from SW Florida (Naples area) has created quite a buzz around the country with their amazing performance in the NCAA Tournament this year! FGCU opened it's doors a mere 16 years ago to it's current 15,000 student body. They have been eligible for the NCAA Tournament for only 2 years. In the Tournament's 76 year history, they are the first 15 seeded team to make it to the "Sweet 16" out of 68 teams.
FGCU is competing with teams that have been around since the late 1800's and taking them out, two of which are Georgetown and San Diego State. The Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles take on the Florida Gators this Friday at 10:00 pm. Way to go Eagles! Congratulations and thank you for giving us one more good reason to live in SW Florida.
