Inc.Magazine’s list of the 5,000 fastest growing companies in the United States included 11 companies in the Cape Coral-Fort Myers and Naples-Marco Island metro areas. This ended up being two less than in 2014 but was three more than made the list in 2013, with many of the area businesses on this year’s list being repeaters. This list bodes well for the construction industry in our area. Fort Myers-based Stevens Construction has made the list for the past three years. The commercial construction company has moved up every year and now stands at No. 1,345 — the top ranking for a local business in 2015.
The companies on the list are ranked by their percentage revenue growth. The 2015 list, published by Inc. Magazine, compares 2011 to 2014. Stevens Construction, founded in 2003, saw a three-year growth rate of 308 percent and reported revenues of $39.9 million last year. The company has added more than 20 jobs over the past few years to keep up with its rapid growth. This is a sure sign that the construction industry which has a major impact on the local economy is on the mend after the decline in the housing boom and the recession with people buying less homes. The local companies on this year’s list are a diverse group.
Locally, Naples-based Pyure Brands, had the second best ranking locally, at No. 1,525. The company, which makes stevia sweetening products, had a growth rate of 268 percent, with revenues of $5.2 million last year. For the first time this year, Fort Myers-based My Shower Door and D3 Glass landed on the list. At No. 2,085, the sister companies grew revenues by 188 percent. They had $9 million in revenues last year and they’ve added more than 40 jobs since 2012, growing their workforce from 22 to 57 in 18 months. D3, founded in 2012, manufactures glass for My Shower Door, which sells only shower doors, but it also makes glass for outside clients. D3 is supplying most of the glass for the new multimillion-dollar Hertz headquarters under construction in Estero. Both of these businesses contribute to the growth of the residential and commercial building occurring throughout our area.
To qualify for the Inc. 5000 list this year companies had to bring in at least $2 million in revenue in 2014, and at least $100,000 in 2011. They must be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit and independent.
