So, What Makes Naples, Florida So Special? And Why Would I Want to Buy a Home There?

11/7/13

The immediate thought that comes to most peoples mind is "the weather" and although this is true the weather only allows us to enjoy what Naples has to offer all year long. Naples has been described as a "tropical paradise", the "platinum coast", the "real winter wonderland", and often times "the most beautiful place I have ever been". While all these descriptions are true they don’t explain the details as to why Naples is special.

Located on Latitude 26, Naples is a small, sophisticated beach town offering it's white sandy beaches and tranquil blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico for all to enjoy. Downtown Naples boasts a casual sheik atmosphere featuring high-end art galleries, fancy restaurants, ice cream shops, and pizza parlors. 5th Avenue South serves as our "Main Street" giving downtown the All American Feel hosting parades (4th of July, Naples High Homecoming, St Patty's Day, Christmas), arts and craft shows attracting hundreds of artists from all over the world, October Fest, The Ferrari Show, Naples Film Festival, running races, chalk art, and the second Tuesday of every month is "Evening on 5th" featuring music on every street corner.

When 5th Avenue South is not hosting one of these great events you can always enjoy The Sugden Community Theater featuring great local theater for all ages, the Von Liebig Art Center which hosts events, exhibitions, and art classes of every medium, the Band Shell in Cambier Park just off 5th hosts music year round such as Jazz, Dixie Land, Big Band, and much more. Cambier Park also hosts Art in the Park, A night at the movies featuring recent movies played outside on the big screen, The Norris Community Center, and the Arthur Allen Tennis Center Award winning Public Tennis Center in the heart of Old Naples. The professionally staffed, full-service Tennis Center offers unsurpassed quality programming and facilities for the novice through advanced player, and junior through senior players. The tennis center has 12 state of the art Hydro-Grid (sub-irrigated) lighted Har-Tru (clay-like surface) courts. Our two center courts have additional lighting to accommodate professional exhibition or tournament play. Chickee shade structures with cold-water fountains in between each court. The tennis shop offers refreshments and the latest in tennis technology. The Allen Tennis Center is a fully programmed facility with leagues, clinics, lessons and other social events available to all. Come out and enjoy yourself at the Arthur L. Allen Tennis Center!

Downtown is also home to the historic 3rd Street shopping district. Distinctly different than 5th Avenue yet still offering fine dinning, shopping, and entertainment. 3rd Street South hosts the Farmers Market every Saturday morning offering the best local products Naples has to offer including, fresh seafood, local honey, orchids, lots of organic tropical fruits and vegetables, and provides you a chance to mingle with your friends while enjoying the beach breeze and steel drums. 3rd Street is also host to Thursdays on 3rd, a monthly event featuring local music and entertainment. The big event on 3rd every year is the annual Christmas event where it snows along the street while they light the big tree as carolers sing and children play!

Naples also has a sophisticated side to entertainment with huge events throughout the year such as The Naples Winter Wine Festival, which is ranked among the top 10 arts, and entertainment events for wealthy Americans. This ranking by the Luxury Institute is based on exclusivity, quality and prestige. Since 2004, the festival has earned the distinction of being the most successful charity wine auction in the nation according to Wine Spectator. The event brings many of the world's finest vintners and chefs together with wine collectors and philanthropists for a three-day gala in picturesque Naples, Florida. The Naples International Film Festival celebrating independent films and filmmakers. Naples is also home to The Naples Philharmonic Center for the Art (The Phil) providing locals with entertainment that rivals any big city. This season will see acts such as Bonnie Raitt, Wynton Marsalis, Moody Blues, The Miami City Ballet, and our local Philharmonic orchestra as well as comedy, dance and guest speakers.

What truly makes Naples great are the Beach and the Gulf of Mexico. We are the "Disney World" of outdoor fun. All year round you can enjoy boating, kite boarding, paddle boarding, fishing, sailing, kayaking, wave runners, swimming, snorkeling, crabbing, and relaxing on the beach. There are many events held on the water such as the annual Great Dock Canoe race, Naples regatta, the Christmas boat parade, stone crab season, and Tarpon fishing. We boast miles of white sandy beaches that are host to fun events like our sand castle building competition, sand volleyball tournaments, Fourth of July and New Years Eve fireworks, and daily enjoyment of the sunshine.

If that were not enough Naples is also home over 70 golf courses offering all different styles of play from the casual par three to champion courses that rival the best. There are private country clubs and many public courses to enjoy. Golfers come to Naples from all over the world to enjoy the picturesque landscape and the manicured greens.

Naples over the past 10 years has evolved into a wonderful "year round" community and continues to build upon itself becoming more and more desirable as primary place to call your home. Home to some of the nicest neighborhoods in the world such as Port Royal, Aqualane Shores, Olde Naples, Moorings, Grey Oaks Country Club and Gulf Shore Blvd.
