ONA Weighs in on Financing Pulling Property - by Bill Van Arsdale

07/1/13

The Old Naples Association (ONA) recently sent a letter to the Naples City Council urging review of the proposal to finance the $3MM purchase of the Pulling property for a park on Naples Bay. Under the proposal, City of Naples homeowners will be assessed $160 per residential property. ONA suggests that the City of Naples purchase the property but "retain only the waterfront portion of the 6.7 acres and make available the inland portion for housing development....A partial sale would provide the following benefits:

  • Revenue from the sale helps offset some of the initial cost of the property and construction of the park
  • There will be on-going tax revenue from high quality housing
  • It eliminates or reduces the need to assess citizens"
Hmmm... isn't the point of creating a park to make more green space?

If you live in Old Naples, sign up for the ONA newsletters and stay in touch with the neighborhood, and enjoy summer discounts at dozens of shops and restaurants with the Resident Club Card.
