142,000 units is the inventory of nationwide new construction homes available for sale. The lowest level since the government started tracking the figure in 1963.
Builders sold a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 372,000 homes in July. Rendering only a 4.5 month remaining inventory. Simple economics, buyers' preference for new homes will continue to surge housing starts to meet demand.
