Naples has the most golf holes per capita than any other community in the country. Dozens amongst dozens of courses stack up from one gated community to another. Naples has hosted major state, national and professional tournaments for several decades. In fact, TwinEagles Club currently hosts a Sr. PGA tour event and Tiburon hosts the Franklin Templeton Shootout as well as the season ending LPGA CME Titleholders event.
Naples resdients and visitors can chose from over 70 golf courses. One of the true joys of playing golf in Naples is literaly being right smack in the middle of some of natures most pristine settings. Its not uncommon to see eagles, osprey, alligators, deer, turkeys and other wild life all around you. Never will you see such perfectly manicured and conditioned courses than what you can play here in Naples.
Many of the greats of golf have designed courses in Naples. Fazio, Palmer, Nicklaus, Hills, Trevino and Norman just to name a few. Naples also claims a few world renowned courses such as the Naples Beach and Golf Hotel which was frequented by Gene Sarazen during the 70's and 80's. In 2001 Calusa Pines opened its gates to private members and has been ranked amongst America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. Grey Oaks has been included in Americas Best Golf Course Residential Communities every year over the past decade. The list of top notch courses is significant.
If you are fortunate enough to be a member or invited to play the private members only courses consider yourself golf blessed. Some of our personal favorites are as follows: Old Collier, Calusa Pines, Grey Oaks, Naples Grande, Collier's Reserve, Hideout, Fiddler's Creek, Old and Naples National.
For those of you visiting or looking for semi-private or public course take a look at the following destinations. Stay and play at Tiburon which is a Ritz Carlton property and home to the Shark Shootout and two Greg Norman design golf courses. Naples most historic course is the Naples Beach and Golf Club a fine public golf course located just across the street from the Gulf of Mexico. You can also stay and play at Lely Golf Course boasting a Lee Trevino designed course called The Mustang. For those who want the best of the beach and golf stay and play at La Playa Beach & Golf Resort. La Playa is the locals favorite resort located on the Gulf of Mexico with every amenity one can conceive and you can take a short drive to their very own 18 hole golf course. The Waldorf Astorias 18 hole gem called Naples Grande is widely considered one of the top 5 golf courses in Naples. This public resort course will test the skills of all golfers while defining expert course design and scenic and breathtaking vistas.
