Naples Fishing Report... Good Weather Means Good Fishing

12/26/14

Local and visiting anglers alike have been treated kindly leading up to the holiday celebration. Inclement or challenging conditions yielded to mild mornings, ample sunshine and placid seas conditions, all of which equated to tight lines and screaming drags in the backcountry shallows and out on the Gulf of Mexico.

While redfish led the charge for the inshore light-tackle angler as the top target, for those looking to scratch out a fresh fish dinner, prospecting the shallows have been rewarded with solid catches of speckled trout, whiting, sheepshead and pompano. All quite easy to fool with a live shrimp or well-retrieved jig, and make for an outstanding meal either sautéed, broiled or fried. Look for this typical wintertime bite to further improve as we enter the 2015 calendar year.

As a Naples resident I take advantage of the lifestyle this area affords us.  If you need referrals on the fishing guides, golf courses, lodging, spas, beach clubs or anything don't hesitate to contact me.
