Monday, November 4th, 2014, is the night Christmas starts in downtown Naples, Florida. Third Street South will be full of beautiful decorations, singing, music, food, and snow for the annual launching of the holiday season as the Mayor lights the official Christmas tree. When Santa arrives the snow will fall from Broad Avenue to 13th Avenue South- which it will continue to do so every evening until christmas. The itinerary for this evening's events is as follows:
- 5:30pm - Christmas on 3rd begins with holiday music, food, and fun
- 5:45 - Start to gather around the Christmas Tree with your family, Santa, Fairy Snow Mother, and the Snow King and Queen
- 6:20 - The Mayor throws the switch and lights the Third Street Christmas Tree for the official start of the holiday season
- 6:21 - the Fairy Snow Mother summons her powers and snow begins to fall in downtown Naples, Florida (despite the fact that the weather will be perfect as it is throughout the winter in Naples)
- 8:00 - a secondary snow storm will move through the shopping district of 3rd Street coating everyone with fun
- 9:00 - Santa leaves Old Naples and heads back to the North Pole
The fun does not stop after this evening's events. The rest of the week will be a continued celebration with more music, fun, and plenty of snow flurries. I have attended this event nearly every year and it always amazes me the feeling of festive joy it brings to everyone attending especially the children.
