Buy Now Before Home Prices Rise in Florida

07/22/14

June marked the 31st month in a row over a time span of more than 2.5 years that the median sales price has risen year-over-year for both single-family homes and condominiums in Florida. With more people moving into Florida combined with the positive number in improving job opportunities our housing market is definitely improving. Throughout the state, new listings for single-family homes rose 12.4 percent and for condominiums, the rise was 3 percent, year-over-year.

The statewide median sales price for a single-family existing home was up 5.2 percent from the previous year to a price of $185,000. The median sales price for condominium properties rose to $141,000, up 8.5 percent over the year-ago price.* Just to clarify, the use of the term median means that half the homes sold for more and half the homes sold for less. According to the National Association of Realtors® reports, the national median sales price for existing single-family homes was $213,600 in the month of May, up 4.9 percent from the previous year and the condominium price was $212,300.
