Postal Service and Amazon.com unveiled a new partnership last year offering Sunday delivery exclusively for Amazon products.
Sunday delivery is available to all Amazon customers, but may benefit Amazon Prime members the greatest who receive 2-day delivery for free. Amazon Prime members who pay $99 a year will be able to buy products on Friday and receive them by Sunday.
The Naples Postal Service has hired 21 flexible part-time employees to help with Sunday delivery and same-day delivery. U. S. Postal carriers have been given explicit instructions to leave packages under all conditions - this includes at the doorstep of closed businesses and gates of closed communities. Amazon will take full responsibility.
Amazon has been spending billions of dollars building new warehouses around the world so it can deliver products more quickly. The company hopes that adding Sunday as a delivery option will generate more sales. Likewise, this relationship will be a needed boost to the U. S. Postal Service.
