Hanging out on the beach in Old Naples at the end of 8th Avenue South this weekend I was taken back by how many kite boarders were out riding the wind and the waves. The sport of kite boarding has been around for awhile and occasionally you will see one or two people out in the gulf enjoying the breezes and small waves lapping up on the beach. Regardless of the time of day or if you are in Port Royal, Aqualane Shores, or Old Naples you can go out to the beach and see colorful kites above the Gulf of Mexico and surfers below soaring across the waves.
A local business has opened up on 3rd Avenue North in Old Naples called Windstalkers. They are certified instructors with IKO (International Kiteboarders Orginization). They give beginner, intermediate, and advanced lessons.They also do paddleboard rentals and help stage events.
