Several of us had an unusual and thrilling experience today at Vanderbilt Beach. As we were sitting in the sun we noticed people gathering around the water line looking out to the Gulf. We got up to see what the stir was all about and there 10 meters out were 3 Manatees floating by popping their heads out of the water from time to time to see what all the commotion was about.
They were undoubtedly taking a breath of air but they seemed as curious of all of us as we were of them. There were 2 adults and a baby Manatee that were following the coast line heading north. No one interfered with them but a few people managed to get very close for a photo op.
