100 Million Next Year

08/22/14

According to a report by the Associated Press, Florida had a record number of visitors during the spring. There were 24 million tourists that visited Florida during the second quarter of 2014. This represents an increase of 3% over the same time period a year ago. The state had increased spending for Visit Florida, the state’s tourism marketing arm, which accounts for much of this increase. They estimate that the record number includes 2.8 million people from overseas and 1 million Canadians. People that buy property in Florida from Canada account for our largest share of international buyers.

Visit Florida did an award-winning, extensive multi-media advertising campaign that communicated the benefits of coming to Florida with continual days of sunshine and warm weather, versus market areas that had very cold weather, and inches to multiple feet of snow and ice. The state is hoping to increase funding to Visit Florida this next year to attract even more visitors. Nearly 95 million people visited the state last year, the goal is to get the number to 100 million this next year.  Shawn Bleh 239-207-0761
